Turning Little lives around in a BIG way by providing mentors to children in the Ocean County community. And we couldn't do it without you - Together We are Defenders of Potential

ABOUT US

Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of Ocean County was founded in 1997 by a group of community volunteers concerned about at-risk youth in Ocean County. BBBS of Ocean County is a not-for-profit youth agency, an affiliate of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, and a certified United Way Agency. The agency is governed by a Board of Directors comprised of volunteers committed to the vision of mission of the agency.

Although we are part of a national organization, BBBS of Ocean County is self funded through generous donations, grants, fundraising, sponsors, etc. All of the money we receive goes right back into benefiting kids that need it the most in Ocean County. Having a Big Brother/Sister, a positive role model, builds confidence and self-esteem empowering these kids to reach their full potential and have a brighter future.

In the history of BBBSOC, all of the Littles in our program have finished high school and continued their educations in college or trade school, often despite considerable odds. Our program is making a difference in Ocean County.

Be a part of something BIG for a Little igniting their potential by equipping them with the life skills they will implement. Help us in Defending the Potential of children in Ocean County that exists in every child!

Vision
All youth achieve their full potential.

Mission
Create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth.

Accountability
We partner with parents/guardians, volunteers and others in the community and hold ourselves accountable for each child in our program achieving:

  • Higher aspirations, greater confidence, and better relationships

  • Avoidance of risky behaviors

  • Educational success
