Be A Big

Be a Big

You have the power to change the course of a community by impacting the perspective of just one child. We're always looking for people who are enthusiastic about helping a child discover his or her potential. Being a mentor - a BIG - is an incredible opportunity to change the life of a child for the better, forever. And mentoring a child is SUCH a rewarding role!

It All Starts with a Little!

By investing a little time (2-4 hours) every other week, you can give a Little Brother or Little Sister friendship that will open up the whole world to him or her. A little talk can change her perspective on what she can accomplish in life. A little effort can give him a boost in self-confidence. A little field trip can help her discover the world around her. YOU can literally start changing their lives, and often great change comes from an encouraging word.

Someone needs YOU

We are in need of Big Sisters and especially Big Brothers (more than half of our Waiting Littles are male, but only about one-quarter of our volunteer inquiries come from males). The greatest demand is for men and women ages 24-55. We are always in need of men of color - many of our Littles waiting to be matched are African-American and Hispanic boys.

Role models come in all shapes and sizes with a variety of backgrounds and experiences. You can do this. You just have to want to make a positive impact on the life of a child.
